New to Contemplative Photography

Question:

Hi, I have been taken photos for more than 10 years, and just came across the idea of contemplative photography... but I am loving it! I have just ordered the book, then so far what I have read is what is in the website and the fabulous images from Andy, Michael and all the contributors... but I feel that most of my work has been along the lines of being contemplative rather than thinking about the subject matter. I always had thought that my mission as a photographer was to try to transmit the beauty that I see so evident, but that many people just walk along. Anyway, my question is if it is ok to submit old photos that haven't been taken for the assignments but that I feel the moment I took them was rather contemplative? Thank you very much for your amazing work! Cheers Martha Carrillo TwoPointEight

Answer:

Thanks for your message Martha. We'd love to see some of your older photographs that seem to fit the contemplative approach. Please note that we ask people to limit their submissions to three images a week.

is the book sufficient for the practice...

Question:

I live in India, and I don't know if i will ever get to attend a workshop... want to know how far will the book help me on this path...?

Answer:

The book can take you quite a long way, if you really practice the exercises, and do the assignments. Don't hurry. It might take months or years to fully click into the contemplative approach. From that point on, you will be able to guide yourself. The most important thing is to enjoy the journey, even at times when it involves working through frustration.
