I’m a sucker for a good pavement shot and this is a good one: all texture and color.

There is nothing in this picture worth photographing… yet it is strong, evocative perception.

The textures and colors in this image are stunningly attractive. If you think about the subject matter, it's just a dirty mess. Contemplative photography is based on seeing beyond thought to the thing itself.

There is something so peaceful and composed about this image, yet it would be easy to overlook the perception.

Junk! But such colorful junk. And such rich textures.

Many perceptions have been triggered by the patterns of light and shadow cast by venetian blinds, but this one is exceptional.

There is nothing quite like the vivacity of patterns of light. I love the play of light and texture in this image.

It's just a hint of what's above, but the reflection of sky and leaves in the puddle makes the textures of this perception sparkle.

Seeing nature clearly is so difficult because concepts like "lovely flower" come to mind so quickly, obscuring the actual form of what is seen. That's certainly not the case in this fine image of colors and shapes.

I like this image very much, and feel that each element contributes. There is nothing "extra" here...There are strong graphic elements: the overall block of color of the background is mirrored by the shaded block in the lower right. The other rectangles (one defined by the bike racks, one defined by the foreground) contribute to the strong composition and the balance of the image. The figure in the shaded block is where my eye goes first, and while the image would work as a graphic composition without the person in it, it is much stronger as seen here. A captured moment with some mystery. The muted colors work very well, especially in contrast - cool grey/blues of the wall and pavement, warm yellows of the bike stands and the bottom.
